Avante Care & Support Residents and service users

As the country emerges from lockdown and we see further easing of the restrictions in our community, we want to ensure our care homes remain a safe place for residents and staff. We know this period of lockdown has been particularly difficult for family and friends who have not been able to visit loved ones and we have considered how we can start opening our homes in a safe and practical way. We continue to follow the government’s guidelines as well as best practice among our peer organisations in the National Care Forum and as such are delighted to announce we are able to Implement the first phase of visiting.

This will start with external visits, using garden and outside areas in each of our care homes. As the layout and access to these areas differ across our 10 care homes there will be an agreed visitors plan for each site. This will include the location, frequency of visits and how the visits will be organised and managed.

Visits inside the care home will continue to be restricted to essential professional visitors or relatives of residents who are seriously ill. We know how much people want to get back to normal and have the flexibility to visit their loved ones when they want, but we cannot extend visiting beyond external areas until we have government guidance which says this is safe to do so.

New residents and service users

We know that during the current pandemic people are still looking for and requiring residential care or home care services. We are currently still taking admissions into our care homes for those that need care. Please call our care homes or home care service if you are looking for care or need any further help.

We want to assure you that when we are admitting new residents from the community, we are doing so safely. We have clear policies in place to ensure that testing or screening is done. If it is appropriate for a resident to move in to our care homes, the resident will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days within the home upon admission.

During that time we will ensure that the new resident is as fully engaged in the life of the home as possible. We will not accept any admission we feel would be a risk to our current residents in our care homes. Our staff are all trained in infection control and are vigilant to the symptoms of COVID-19.

We understand looking for care for a loved one during the current COVID19 Pandemic may seem challenging and right now and with the additional worry of not being able to view inside care homes the usual way prior placement or to visit a loved one post placement is an additional concern for many looking for care right now. We are currently working with families who have chosen our care services through this temporary measure ensuring everyone involved feels comfortable and settled in our care.

We have adapted our care homes to protect residents, staff and new admissions against COVID19. We have safe and welcoming isolated areas for the 14 days upon admission for your loved one. Throughout the 14 days these areas will be as comfortable and relaxing as you would hope for your loved one, with one to one care and support and daily treats and scheduled activities throughout their stay, where your loved can be involved as much or as little as they wish,  extras include fresh cut flowers throughout their stay, foot, hair and nail treatments, chocolates, scheduled daily video calls to loved ones, films and popcorn, favourite foods requests, daily newspapers and magazines delivered and more, all provided at no extra cost to you.
Finally, to help show our support through these unprecedented times if your loved one moves into any one of our care homes across Kent, Bexley & Greenwich we would like to offer you the first night free on us.

Finding the right Care Home can feel overwhelming at any time. The COVID-19 pandemic means that care homes have had to learn to do things differently, like every household in the country. The focus remains to provide high quality care, with residents needs and wellbeing at the centre of everything.

Parkview is a popular home and is well supported by the local Bexley community. The home has a welcoming atmosphere and residents can enjoy activities, go on outings and make friends with other residents and staff. At the heart of Parkview is our Philosophy of Care, the Eden Alternative, where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and work towards the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

24-hour care and support is provided for people living with dementia, where our team of qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of the residents.

The home offers a variety of brightly decorated lounges and dining rooms. The dining experience is an important part of life at Parkview. Many of the bedrooms at Parkview benefit from en-suite facilities and have been individually decorated to provide comfort and relaxation.

Activities both inside and outside the home are very important and Parkview residents are often out and about in the minibus visiting local attractions.

Parkview provides a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily tasks such as washing, cleaning and laundry. Parkview provides a respite care service allowing a crucial break for carers, for just a few hours or for several weeks. This offers family carers the chance to go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off.

Also located at Parkview is The Haven, a popular day care centre specialising in dementia care. The centre provides a safe, relaxing and calm atmosphere for people living with dementia.
