A New Chapter Begins at Wain House

Wain House Care Home Opens in Westgate-on-Sea and Welcomes First Residents.

Located in Westgate-on-Sea, Wain House Care Home represents a significant milestone for Avante Care & Support, setting a new benchmark for quality, comfort and personalised care in Thanet.

In the lead-up to opening, visitors were invited to a series of open days to explore the beautifully designed care home, offering a glimpse of life at Wain House ahead of its February 2026 opening. Prospective residents, families and community members experienced the exceptional facilities and the warm, welcoming environment thoughtfully created by Avante Care & Support.

Today, that vision becomes a reality as the first two residents, husband and wife Harold and Ruth, move into the new home together.

Harold and Ruth are childhood sweethearts who first met at just 13 years old. Having spent a lifetime side by side, they knew they did not want to be apart when they began to need additional care and support. After careful consideration, they chose Wain House as the place to begin their next chapter together.

Joined by their loved ones, Harold and Ruth were warmly welcomed today by the team at Wain House as they settled into their new en-suite rooms, thoughtfully personalised with treasured photographs and familiar belongings. There were smiles, laughter and a few happy tears as staff ensured the couple felt at ease from the very first moment they arrived.

Wain House combines comfort, care and community across 70 en-suite bedrooms and spacious lounge areas, many with stunning views of the Kent coastline and nearby golf course. The home features a dedicated family room for celebrations and private gatherings, the inviting Waterside Café for refreshments, and the Seabreeze Salon providing on-site hair and beauty treatments. A state-of-the-art model railway and a variety of engaging communal spaces further enrich daily life, encouraging connection and meaningful activity.

The outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully designed to promote wellbeing and independence. Residents can enjoy an entertainment pod, outdoor gym equipment, raised planting areas for gardening enthusiasts, and peaceful spots to relax and enjoy the fresh sea air.
