What’s it like at Chaucer House care home?

At Chaucer House, our passionate and dedicated staff work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere for all. Chaucer House staff put the health and well-being of the residents at the heart of everything they do. The team of qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of the residents and provides residential, nursing and dementia care for 60 residents.

The modern and luxurious design of our Canterbury care home provides well-equipped, bright lounges and ensuite bedrooms to support person-centred care in which residents enjoy activities and socialise with other residents and staff. As a testament to our unique approach, Chaucer House has recently been recognised in property firm, Knight Frank’s, Luxury Care Home Guide 2020.

At the heart of the home is our philosophy of care, the Eden Alternative (Awarded Foundation), where staff encourage social interaction and engagement to work towards the eradication of loneliness and boredom.

Facilities & fun at our Canterbury care home

We have an impressive range of facilities which include the beauty salon where you can treat yourself to a new hairstyle or beauty treatment, a cinema room for residents and their families to enjoy a movie, and a playroom with toys for the younger visitors to the home! There are communal tablets available for residents wanting to browse the internet or communicate with loved ones through email or video.

Residents of Chaucer House care home in Canterbury can visit the pretty gardens to while away a peaceful afternoon, or join in with the daily programme of activities throughout the home. The minibus also gives residents the opportunity for day trips out to local places of interest.

Practical support at Chaucer House

When it comes to practical things like washing, we’ve got it covered. All laundry is included and managed by the home domestic team but, should residents wish to continue independently with daily tasks, such as cleaning and laundry, there’s always practical support available from staff to do so.

All meals are nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared, and cooked at our care home. What’s more, the catering team are always on hand to meet any dietary requirements or requests that our residents require.

Our Canterbury care home also offers a respite care service that gives family carers or caregivers the chance to have a break from caring, go on holiday, or simply have some well-earned time off.

We offer 24 Hour Residential Care including specialist Nursing Care, Dementia Care and also Respite Care for those who need it. Chaucer House in Canterbury is a modern purpose-built luxury care home. We are focused on delivering exceptional person-centred care. We have a full and varied activities programme and encourage all residents to take part as well as be fully involved in the community.

Hungry? We have a large dining area in each of our suites that provides nutritious food to guests and residents. Our restaurant areas are also a place for people to gather and socialise at their leisure.

Everyone needs pampering every once in a while. Our onsite salon and therapy room offer many treatments for our residents, including hairdressing, nail manicures, and other wellbeing treatments.

Bar

There is a beautiful bar on the top floor for residents to enjoy featuring large windows and stunning panoramic views of the local area. Relax and unwind here where many events and parties are held.

Bistro

Our Canterbury care home has a cosy, but spacious, bistro area for residents to enjoy less formal food. There is a large balcony with views overlooking our gardens here too.

Family Room

Our care home’s family room is a wonderful area for family and friends to visit loved ones. The room is great for children as we have plenty of fun toys and an assortment of games available.

Snug

Our Snug area allows residents of our Canterbury care home to enjoy a peaceful moment, reading a book or just relaxing on comfortable sofas and armchairs.

Ensuite Bedroom

We have bright ensuite bedrooms in Chaucer House which lead into a separate bathroom area. The rooms can be personalised by residents with items and their own furniture to make it feel like home.

Our ensuite wet rooms feature accessible facilities including large power showers and luxury hand basins. They also contain plenty of space for toiletries and decorations, allowing residents privacy, personalisation, and comfort.
