Paying for care

When choosing a care home for a relative or yourself, it is important that you choose a home that can meet all your needs.

When choosing a care home for a relative or yourself, it is important that you choose a home that can meet all your needs. Once you choose a home, you will usually be responsible for paying the care fees (unless these are covered, or partially covered by Social Services). If you are concerned about your ability to pay the fees, you can approach the local Social Services Department for an assessment of care needs. At the same time they will undertake a financial assessment and determine if you qualify for assistance with the payment.

Whether funding is provided is determined by several factors. These include a person’s wealth, their entitlement to state benefits and their ability to pay. The financial thresholds are reviewed annually by the Government. As a provider we recognise that whilst some individuals will wish to privately fund their care, others will look to Social Services for assistance
