VE Day celebrations at Puddingstone Grange

During the current lockdown with all care homes in isolation from visitors to protect the residents and care staff, events and activities in care homes have required a different approach, with plenty of outside-the-box thinking during these uncertain times. One thing that is for certain is the events and activities across Avante Care & Support’s care homes have not stopped and VE Day celebrations were certainly not going to be missed.

The VE Day celebrations at Puddingstone Grange were a huge success and were opened by vintage style singer Alice, who delivered a beautiful socially distanced performance to her audience singing all of the wartime classics by Dame Vera Lynn and Doris Day’s Secret Love, followed by other wartime classics, ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ and ‘Knees up Mother Brown’.

Pauline Hill, Activity Coordinator said, ‘We spent the whole afternoon in the garden celebrating, enjoying the sunshine and entertainment. Staff dressed up in clothing typical of the era. It was heart-warming to watch the residents dance and laugh all afternoon, a true Victory for Britain celebration!’

We know that during the current COVID-19 pandemic people are still looking for and requiring residential care, we are currently taking admissions at Puddingstone Grange for those that need care. We are doing so safely and have clear policies in place to ensure that screening or testing is undertaken prior to any admission into the home.
