Happy 100th Birthday to Phyllis at Amherst Court
On Saturday 18th June resident Phyllis, celebrated her 100th Birthday at Amherst Court.
Her telegram from the Queen arrived in the morning which Phyllis had said was “very special”. Her friends and family arrived late morning to help celebrate her birthday with her and one of her friends had also made her a beautiful cake.
Before retirement Phyllis had shared with staff at the care home based in Chatham, that she was the Secretary to the Chief Crime Commissioner of the Police. Clever thinking staff thought it would be a nice idea to look into this and see if they could arrange a little surprise for Phyllis on her birthday. So in the afternoon of Phyllis birthday the NAPRO (National Association of Retired Police Officers) came in to see Phyllis and awarded her with a certificate for all her years and service she had dedicated to the police force. The Super Intendant of Medway joined them to wish Phyllis a very Happy Birthday and to thank her as well.
The local Kent Messenger newspaper also came in to the home to take a few photo’s with which Phyllis said “All this fuss, I’m not famous!!”.
In the afternoon Dennis Connelly a regular entertainer at Amherst Court, came in and sang Happy Birthday and everyone enjoyed celebrating with her, with a party and cake.
It’s all been wonderful, I have never been given this many flowers before!Phyllis
