Activities at Bridge Haven
An Afternoon of Music and Meaningful Activities at Bridge Haven Care Home
Thanks to proactive staff member, Tim, residents at Bridge Haven Care Home enjoyed an afternoon of live music.
All staff at Bridge Haven familiarise themselves with the Care Plans of each resident to ensure person centred care and to have a better understanding of the residents hobbies and interests. After reading resident John’s care plan, Tim learnt that John had previously played Drums in a Church Band and the next day Tim brought in his own Drum kit and let John reminisce. Although John had not played in over 20 years, within a couple of minutes the rhythm was back.
Other residents soon joined in to what was a very emotional and enjoyable music session.
Bridge Haven has now purchased its own Drum set that is used every week, some say it may be the start to a new local group ‘The Bridge Players’!
Whilst John was playing the drums others at Bridge Haven were busy with staff member Jay making Bird seed feeding balls. After purchasing the materials and then making the balls residents were supported in hanging them in the garden. Much to the delight of Eddie and Olive, birds were seen feasting within minutes.
Bridge Haven has a host of wildlife within its extensive garden areas. Within the central garden used for this project birds such as Tits, Doves, Blackbirds, Magpies, Wrens and even Pheasants can be seen on a daily basis.
