When choosing a care home for a relative or yourself, it is important that you choose a home that can meet all your needs. Once you choose a home, you will usually be responsible for paying the care fees (unless these are covered, or partially covered by Social Services). If you are concerned about your ability to pay the fees, you can approach the local Social Services Department for an assessment of care needs. At the same time they will undertake a financial assessment and determine if you qualify for assistance with the payment.
