World Challenge Expedition
World Challenge Expedition fundraising event at Puddingstone Grange Care Home, Plumstead.
On Sunday the 20th March Puddingstone Grange care home in Plumstead hosted a High Tea fundraising event to support students from Townley Grammar School who are training for The World Challenge Expedition; volunteering for one month at an orphanage in Mongolia and completing a 10 day trek.
Townley Grammar School girls approached Home Manager Allison Purkiss back in November to ask if Puddingstone Grange would like to support them with their fund raising activities and with this Allison quickly put her thinking cap on!
“The girls approached me back in November when they knocked on my door selling beautiful animals made out of face flannels to raise money for their World Challenge Expedition. They were lovely girls and so keen and enthusiastic, it got me thinking on how we could help support them and how our residents at Puddingstone Grange could be involved too”Allison
The High Tea started at 2.30pm on Tuesday 20th March. Townley Grammar School student Jasmine Daniels baked all the cakes and biscuits, provided the tableware, menus and an extensive range of tea.
Entertainment was supplied by Puddingstone Grange, Saxophonist Michael Lack who was truly fit for purpose playing his rendition of smooth, timeless Rat Pack standards.
There was a special afternoon tea offer which consisted of a pot of tea, a selection of sandwich fingers and scones with jam and clotted cream, all for the small fee to families and visitors of £8 but free to all residents at Puddingstone Grange.
The event was a huge success and raised nearly £200 through the tea party alone and an extra £100 was kindly donated from Home Manager Allison Purkiss to go towards their expedition.
