‘Hale and Hearty’ at Bridge Haven
Residents enjoyed a great ‘Hale and Hearty’ at Bridge Haven Care Home, Bridge nr Canterbury.
On Wednesday 17th February residents, families and staff enjoyed an afternoon of Cockney entertainment at Bridge Haven Care Home near Canterbury. The afternoon opened with a family member playing the piano to warm up the guests with some classic Cockney tunes such as ‘Roll out the Barrel’ followed by entertainer Tommy Parsons dancing with residents whilst singing old time favourites, including ‘Knees up Mother Brown’ and ‘Any Old Iron’.
Staff dressed up for the event wearing Pearly King and Queen outfits as well as many residents dressing up for the occasion including resident June who wore a Pearly Queen outfit and won £20 in the best dressed competition.
Resident June and staff welcomed every guest to the event with a glass of mulled wine to enjoy during the entertainment. After the entertainment residents and guests enjoyed traditional pie, mash and liquor followed by bread pudding for dessert.
“We wanted to hold a party to thank our residents and families for their patience during the recent refurbishment. We have now completed the final stage of the refurbishment programme which has completely transformed the home to a state of the art facility. A lot of our residents love traditional pie and mash so as a thank you we suggested a few options for themes for a party and a Cockney Pie and Mash party won hands down”Home Manager Ian Chandler
