Congratulations to Carolyn McVittie, Managing Director, Stepahead Support, for recently passing a Master’s Degree with Merit.
Carolyn McVittie, Managing Director of Stepahead Support; a charity that supports young people and families across the community who are in need of help and guidance, has over the last two years studied a part time course in Advanced Child Protection with the University of Kent.
The Degree interested Carolyn as it relates closely with her work at Stepahead Support, where she is also the designated Child Protection officer; supporting staff with safeguarding concerns including disclosures and incidents. Not only did the subject interest Carolyn, she looked at it as a personal challenge to get back into academia after a few years away from it.
Carolyn commented: ‘I went to an open day at the University and the passion and incredible knowledge of the tutors really impressed and inspired me. By gaining this Degree it will improve practice at Stepahead Support ensuring that the young people we work with are supported and protected from past, current and future abuse, as effectively as possible.
My studies have highlighted the importance of communication between agencies and a joined up approach to achieve the best outcome for the young person. I will also be reviewing how we can support staff better in reducing their anxiety levels when working within child protection’.
Well done Carolyn!
